1) Loosen the three Phillips screws and remove the top half of the body.

2) Remove the internal parts and/or replace necessary part(s).

3) Verify there is thick grease (usually green) in the large hole located towards the bottom of the tool.

4) Install the spring, with the hook facing up, onto the peg closest to the circular grease hole. Locate the hook on the lever, latch the other side of the spring onto the lever, and rest it on the body. Verify spring is still hooked onto the peg.

5) Locate the shiny/shaved end of the connecting rod vs the dull side. Grease the dull side with Vasoline and slip it into round spot in the lever.

6) Replace top half of the body and screw back together.

7) Test the lever – the tool lever should snap to the open position. If it doesn't, the spring is not attached and it will need to be taken apart and reassembled.
