Premature nylon hex ratchet wear is caused by over tightening the clamp halves. This causes the clamp to grip the nylon & cause failure.
Home cure: reduce the diameter of the nylon hex ratchet by grinding off approximately 1mm, or put a round or two of masking tape on the hex ratchet where it meets the clamp half. The above only can be done if loosening the clamp does not work. Also, be sure to lube the detent ball on the turret ring with oil.
