The Lee 280 Ackley Improved die set we offer
should not be used to size cases for rifles chambered for the SAAMI 280 Ackley Improved. Cases sized in a Lee die may not fit in a rifle chambered for the SAAMI 280 Ackley Improved. A custom Full Length Sizing Die would have to be made to work for the SAAMI cases. Please

The standard
Collet Die Set for the 7mm Express/280 Rem/280 AI should work. Most Ackley Improved cartridges have less body taper, and a steeper shoulder angle, but the distance from the base of the case to the neck/shoulder intersection is not changed. The original 280 Ackley has a neck intersection distance of 2.188" and the SAAMI has a distance of 2.1795" so there is enough clearance in the collet to accommodate the SAAMI cartridge.
The standard
Factory Crimp Die for the 7mm Express/280 Rem/280 AI also has enough crimping surface space for the shorter SAAMI cases.
