The 7.7 Japanese was never standardized by organizations like SAAMI or CIP.
The cartridge overall length is inconsequential in regards to pressure, and the length published is so it fits in box magazine. There may be one firearm out there that requires the longer minimum overall length. Follow the load data for the minimum overall length of the load.
