There is no direct correlation to the numbers on the control dial except that higher numbers are hotter than lower numbers. If you have a metal thermometer you can calibrate the individual thermostats on your melters. Most people just increase the temperature of the lead until they begin getting frosty bullets and then back the temp off slightly and make note of the thermostat setting.
