Broken Lever Sleeve

Don't overtighten the 5/16 bolt that pulls the lever clamp into the lever sleeve.  If you do, the lever acts like a wedge and applies a splitting force to the lever sleeve, creating a stress concentration in the middle of the semi-circular cutout in the lever sleeve. Only 4 - 6 ft. lbs. of torque is required to pull the lever sleeve into the toggle link tightly enough to prevent the lever from slipping.
